Welcome to the schools Discover Scuba Program! The Discover Scuba Program is for those students who are looking for action-packed fun in a pool by completing exciting AquaMissions. They will do cool stuff in the pool, and it is a great introduction into scuba diving. Once completed, students can start their PADI Open Water course.

What Diving Develops:
  • An ability to use logic and concepts to appropriately react to an unfamiliar situation.
  • Discipline required to conduct the necessary predive safety checks and follow safe diving practices which is required once they have received their certification card.
  • Responsibility for a Buddy: A child diver will be taught how to respond and be responsible for rescuing their buddy in case of an emergency. Developing the reasoning skills and mental capabilities to react to an emergency situation and rescue a buddy underwater.
  • Fear and Frustration: Learning to deal with and be able to react in an uncomfortable situation logically whilst maintain control of themselves during a slow emergency ascent.
Course Outcomes:
  • Students learn to use basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device, dive gauges and a tank
  • Introduction into environmental awareness
  • Students will receive a certification of completion from PADI International
  • Students will receive completion for Dive 1 PADI Open Water Course
  • Students will have the ability to complete their PADI Open Water Course
  • Students upon successful completion of PADI Open Water Course will be eligible for an ATAR credit (under the PADI RTO)
  • Recognition of prior learning is applicable for some university courses such as Environment Science and Marine Biology

  • Two OZDIVE staff per 12 students for pool sessions
  • PADI Certificate
Please note: We recommend students bring their own wetsuit. All other equipment supplied.
